Suite, for Viola and Piano

The suite by the composer Norbert von Hannenheim is characterized by the dancing gesture of all four movements. It focuses on the sincere power of the viola in its lowest register, in order to produce a music rich in nuances in concise conciseness. Committed to the series technique of his teacher Arnold Schönberg, Hannenheim also draws his compositional strength from a highly personal emotionality in this suite. Despite the melancholic mood of the suite, the rhythmically exciting dialogue of the duo partners viola-piano always remains transparent, clear and comprehensible.
